    Membership Classification

We recognize NUHRA membership by the individual person, not by the organization with which the member is affiliated.  NUHRA membership is not transferable from one individual to another. All NUHRA members are required to hold a current SHRM membership, in good standing. NUHRA recognizes four membership classifications, as follows:

    1) Professional Member: A Professional Member is an individual who is (a) Engaged in the profession of human resource management at the exempt-level for at least three years; and (b) Certified by the Human Resource Certification Institute; and/or (c) Faculty member holding an assistant, associate or full professor rank in human resource management or any of its specialized functions at an accredited college or university and have at least three years experience at this level of teaching; and/or (d) Full-time consultant with at least three years experience in counseling and advising clients on matters relating to the human resource profession; and/or (e) Full-time attorney with at least three years experience in counseling and advising clients on matters relating to the human resource profession. Professional Members may vote and hold office; however, only Professional Members may hold an Officer position on the Board of Directors.

    2) General Member: A General Member is an individual engaged in human resource management at the exempt-level but does not meet the minimum requirements for Professional Member. General Members have voting rights and may serve on the Board of Directors but may not hold an Officer position on the Board.

    3) Associate Member: An Associate Member is an individual in a non-exempt human resource management position, as well as those individuals who do not meet the Professional or General Member requirements; but who demonstrate a bona fide interest in human resource management and the mission of NUHRA. Associate Members may not vote or hold an Officer position on the Board of Directors; however, they may serve in other Board positions.

    4) Student Member: A Student Member is an individual actively enrolled in a human resource degree program at the college or university-level and holds a current SHRM student membership, in good standing. Note, Student Members may attend activities and events; however, NUHRA sponsors only Weber State University (WSU) Student SHRM Chapter members (w number required). Student Members who are not part of the WSU Student SHRM Chapter are welcome to attend activities and events but may be subject to activity fees. Student members may not vote and may not hold any position on the Board of Directors; however, the Student Chapter President of Weber State University SHRM will have a seat on the Board.
