    Deliberate Human Capital Development (DHCD)

The presentation is based on a real-life organizational transformational initiative at Nightingale College based on the principles of positive psychology (Abraham Maslow, Carl Rogers, etc.) and the new book: “An Everyone Culture: Becoming a Deliberately Developmental Organization” by Robert Kagan and Lisa Laskow Lahey (Harvard Business Review Press).

Our presentation will be presented by Dr. Kevin Smith, SPHR, SPHR-SCP

-I am a fifth generation AZ native who has spent most of his professional career working in Southern CA. My spouse (Candi) and I have five children. I am currently employed as a collaborator for Nightingale College ((Ogden, Utah) focusing on organizational transformation and talent management initiatives.

I was fortunate in my late teens to have the opportunity provide faith-based service to indigenous population of the Bolivian altiplano, learning its language (Aymara), and developing a lifelong interest in service, culture,  human behavior, persuasion, relationship building, change management, education, and language. I believe this experience was foundational to my choosing HRM both as a profession and as an avocation.  My career in HRM, OD, and HRD spans thirty years.

My education includes a bachelor’s degree from Brigham Young University in organizational communication/HRD, a master’s degree in human resources and organizational development from the University of San Francisco, and a doctorate in psychology with an emphasis in organizational development and leadership from Alliant International University (San Diego, CA).  I have regularly taught graduate- and under-graduate courses in human resource management for the University of Phoenix since 1995.

    Please RSVP by 11/14/16.
